Sharing microwave oven?

My office has a microwave oven.
Some of my colleagues cook meat in it.

I am a vegetarian, so can I use this microwave oven to warm my vegetarian food?

But when I open the microwave oven door, I really can't stand the smell of the meat. (It has a residual smell of meat)

Make sure that everything you eat is in covered containers with lids. Then you don't risk particle or odor contamination. If the sight of animal product particles stuck to the side bother you, just periodically clean it out when no one is looking . That way you solve your problem without calling attention to yourself. Try to go to break before or after the others if possible in order to minimize the smell problem.

I'm a picky eater like that too. I have boxes of Morning Star products ( vegetarian meats ) in my families freezer, and last week my dad ' organized ' it ( it was actually just fine, but he wanted to changed everything ). So he took my vegetarian foods and stacked them on top of packs of frozen sausages and frozen meats.. It made me really mad. I told my mom what happened and how my vegetarian stuff was mixed with real meat, and she said ' So? '. Ugh that made me really mad.

Anyways, I would bring food that doesn't need to be microwaved, or microwave your food before you leave home. If you have to use their microwave, maybe talk to your clients about letting you use it first in the morning. Im sure they clean it overnight.

It's up to you whether or not you think you can use it. I personally wouldn't be overly bothered by it, and would just cover my dishes or be careful. But then, I live in a meat eating household and that stuff is normal for me. You COULD ask them to wipe it out after they use it, but that might not eliminate the odor.

Keep a bottle of cleaner at your desk, clean out the microwave, then wipe it clean with a damp towel. I think that's about the only choice you'd have because they won't give you special treatment because of your dietary choice.

We have a guy that makes fish in our microwave, and it's absolutely gross.

1st you would have to share the M-oven. Unless you company can provide one for your being a vegetarian.

2nd you could leave the door open to clear up the air before using the m-oven.

3rd hold your breath, throw your food in the m-oven, and walk away.

Talk to your colleagues!

Buy a splash-hood to cover the plates to prevent re-contamination; THEN clean the oven.

Your colleagues may appreciate a clean and fresh-smelling oven also.

leave the door open for a bit to air the smell out... yes, you have to share it and your not getting any meat in your food so you really can't/shouldn't request a seperate microwave....

Pour a glass of water and put a slice of lemon in it. Microwave it for a minute and you've got a fresh smelling oven.

Yucky!!! Vegetarian or not your coworkers need to clean up after them selfs. Either use a cover, or wipe out the microwave after they use it.

Yeah you could use it if your food is completely coverd.

That is 100% your call.
