So I'm no meterologist..? |
Alright I live in Fort Collins, Colorado. There was a tornado touchdown in Windsor, which isn't that far from Fort Collins. All the major highways are closed because the tornados (about six of them) are traveling north, towards fort collins. I work at a bank, and my boss is not letting us close early. The bank and many other businesses just down the street are closed. My boss is telling me we are "safest here". Our bank is a one story (no basement) building with LOTS of windows, theres a huge lobby and lots of office but they are all on the outer wall. I live in a basement apartment, with not a lot of windows, and there is a storage closet in the center of the building, that shares no outside walls. So am I really "safest" here or does a basement apartment make more sense? The storm has not made its way up here yet but we are in a tornado watch. To me, now would be the ideal time to leave, when there is not storm, not at 5 o clock when the storm will be overhead. I as too work at a bank in Berthoud... we had some pretty good rotation directly above our building.. luckily we have a basement (our other branches do not, they went into the vault) but we are still here.... thundering, lightening and hail as we speak. Not to mention, my home is Fort Collins, it will be a fun drive! Your bank manager was doing you a favor. You were much safer in the bank than in your car on the drive to your apartment. One of the least safe places to be during a tornado is in a car. Yes, you need to leave the bank... Too many windows and no basements. In your basement there is not many windows... that is way safer then in the bank The bank has a vault. That would be a good place to be. |
