Why did John Prescott say?

That Tony Blair, who was then the Prime Minister of our country, was "afraid of Gordon Brown"? As prime minister he could have sacked him time after time for his behaviour but he didn't and in the end allowed Brown to push him out of office. Cherie also admitted Brown had pushed Blair out. What hold does he have or did he have over Blair - something in their shared past?

Good points so far!

Probably because if Bliar tried to sack Brownstuff New Labour would have split in 2 with supporters for both sides: I always believed Prescott must have had something over both Bliar and Brownstuff to have kept HIS job/jobs for so long.

Blair wasn't actually 'afraid ' of Brown any more than he was afraid of Prescott. They were labour MP's with voters behind them. To sack either would have made him unpopular and, by association, Labour.
Blair always did what would keep him in office, no matter what. Brown is the same, but nowhere near as smart.
Don't believe everything you hear or read in the media. They all have an agenda. Cherie Blair and 'Bulimic' Prescott are merely promoting their books.

I think Blair was just an easy going guy who tried to avoid unpleasantness if at all possible. Brown has always resembled a teenager with his tantrums and his self-obsession. The great pity was that Blair made any deal in the first place. He should simply have told Brown that he was free to stand in the leadership contest and let the Party decide. Blair would have cuffed the moody Scot in the resulting election and been in a much stronger position to exercise authority later.

Both Brown and Prescott should have been sacked. The reason
they stayed. Was they knew Bliar was screwing Caplan.
