Ethernet Controller?

As a platform, I have maybe an intermediate understanding of computers. I was dealing with one of the computers in our office that has been having a problem with popups and too many security systems being installed (due partly to the popups). The broker didn't know what he had on his computer originally, and was desperate, so I made the fatal mistake of uninstalling the names of programs that I didn't recognize to get rid of the source of the problem. I always warn people against this...*sigh* Guess what...deleted the program that accompanies the ethernet controller for the computer. Now I can't access the internet to search for software for it, and I'm stuck because I can't locate the box/software that it came with. Any ideas?? I would appreciate any help! I don't even know the name of the controller. The computers don't have a LAN on any level other than sharing an internet connection.

On another computer go to http://www.freshdevices.com/freshdiag.ht... and downoad FreshDiagnose to install on the problem PC. This utility will tell you (under Hardware System | PCI busses) which ethernet controller is on the machine. Then you can download the correct driver using the other computer (maybe from http://www.driverguide.com).
