Ideas about measuring large for my due date?

I am 21 weeks and 6 days pregnant. At me doctor's visit today, my fundal height was 28 inches. In fact, the doctor said that was the smallest she could get it, so at times it came up a bit bigger. She measured me a few times to be sure, but it came up the same. She didn't seem concerned, but wondered why this could be. I have an ultrasound one week from now.

Because I didn't know the day of my LMP, I had an ultrasound very early on, at around 1 or 2 months. That didn't show twins, so I don't think this is the case. Also, I had another quick ultrasound done in my ob/gyn's office once because the baby's heartbeat could not be found--again, no sign of twins then.

The only difference with this pregnancy is that I am much more tired than last time--exhausted is a better word--and, that I am physically MUCH larger.

If anyone has any ideas on what may be going on, or wants to share their story, I'd really like to hear it. Thanks!

I measure big every time I go by between 2 to 6 cm. Don't worry.

to get the right amount of weeks take a tape measure and measure vertically from the middle of your pelvic bone up in a straight line over the bump of your stomach to where the swell ends it should measure the amount of weeks you are so if you measure 28cm you should be 28 weeks. This is how the baby is measured to see its progress at doctors in between ultrasounds. of course if you feel no movement at all or experience cramping get to a doctor or hospital.

It really is hard to say, but every pregnancy is different. You could just be getting larger with this one. It doesn't mean anything is wrong or bad. I would just relax as the doctor will definitely let you know if they thought something was wrong.

If you don't trust your doctors office, you could always go to a new doctor and see what they think?

You could have gestational diabetes and the excess sugar is making the baby grow faster and gain weight. Or you could have polyhydramnios (too much fluid) surrounding the baby. They should find out if the baby is growing too fast or if there is too much fluid at your ultrasound.
