RELIGIOUS COWORKER help me please~?

ok i am a religious person...don't think that i am an atheist or anything, but i am 21 years old and just started a new job... i have been here 2 weeks and am pretty high up on the food chain here. i am a quality control auditor... ok well the woman that i am working with is the same thing that i am and she as been at the company for 2 years, she audits the front of the warehouse and i audit the ppl in the back. well we have to share an office... she has all these crosses and scriptures hanging all over the walls and plays these Jesus tapes... not only gospel music but like the bible on cd and inspiraton speeches on cd. well i have been dealing with it and i would say something to her but she has started crying a few times and said that she would not know what she would do if she ever had to take down her stuff down. bc the spervsor had told her that she needed to be consiterate of others and told her to ask me if it offended me i don't know what to do!~~~ we have to get along!!!

im curious?

do you pray over lunch?

bring your bible to read during breaks?

or are you just hoping no one will find out you belong to Jesus (if you do)

Just because you work in the same office doesn't mean that you have to be subjected to her religious music, speeches and whatnot all the time. If she wants to listen to it she needs to get a pair of headphones. YOU have rights too. I would tell the supervisor that yes, it does bother you on some level and that you would prefer she use headphones. That way she gets to listen to it and you don't have to.

That's annoying. I don't think you can do anything about the crosses she hangs on the wall (on her side/area of the office at least), but you should be able to work out a schedule to take turns deciding what you listen to. I'm a Christian, but I'd go crazy if I had to listen to gospel music and religious self-help tapes all day!

If you just have to get along, I would suggest that the two of you talk it over and decide what is an acceptable level of religious "bling" for you. Maybe mark off a section of wall she can use to hang her religious paraphernalia. You could also agree to limit the amount of time she can play her religious CDs (or you can decide which religious CDs are acceptable to you).
