Need help organizing my room whom i share with my husband and two kids?

I SHARE APTS. WITH MY MOM -IN-LAW AND I SHARE ROOMS WITH MY HUSBAND AND 2 KIDS. I LITERALLY HAVE EVERYTHING IN MY ROOM OFFICE, TOYS, LAUNDRY, EVERYTHING AND I AM RUNNING OUT OF OPTIONS HERE. IS THERE ANYONE THAT HAS BEEN IN SOMEWHAT A BIT IN MY SITUATION THAT CAN GIVE ME TIPS ON ORGANIZING EVERYTHING OR AT LEAST IN TELLING ME A STORY SO I CAN FEEL A LITTLE MORE RELIEVED? ANYBODY?

Get some plastic tubs with lids and be sure to label them and if you have to stack them to the ceiling in one corner, it beats having a mess everywhere. Then when the kids need something, or you need something tell your husband to get it.

If you don't need it, sell it or toss it. When you are trying to get by, you can live without certain things. Like you don't need 100 barbies, etc. If it is a keepsake and you want it but wont be using it, put it in a tub and put it on the bottom.

We once lived with my aunt and her 6 kids and her hubby. It was me and my mom and dad and grandma and also a cousin of ours. So we all had to give up a little privacy and a lot of stuff. It is a long story, but I remember it as fun. The adults at the time probably didn't.

We kids were allowed a few of our favorite toys. Everything that we couldn't live without was put in a garage sale and the money was put in the bank. This was in the days when kids could sleep in a tent. So on summer evenings we begged to sleep outside. Heck, I think we only came in when they made us.

We all ate together and cooked together and went to the pool and parks together. And we argued together sometimes, but that is normal and we got over it.

And when I started out, my rent house was so small that you could turn on the stove and heat the whole house. The tub and toilet where in the bedroom. Basically it was a kitchen/living room and a bedroom/bathroom. But you make the best of it and it is fun coming up with ways to live light.

Make a game of it with the kids. If you are having a yard sale, have a contest to see who can earn the most money by getting rid of stuff. Give the winner a ribbon (takes up no room) and everyone have an icecream afterward. Then put the money earned in the bank for your new place. Let the kids know that they are doing their part so they will be able to pick out something in the new place like a bedspread or lamp for their room.

If you are giving the stuff to Goodwill or somethine similar, explain the concept of charity to them. Tell them that even though they share a home with others, some have no home. Some have no toys. Let them make lists of what they want to donate. Not only will they learn something, they will think about it. And making the list, gives you and papa a break while they are quietly writing.

And challenge your kids to come up with space saving ideas. While they may not be the best ideas, it gets the creative juices flowing. And that can never be a bad thing.

If money is tight, and you need storage containers, go to freecycle and offer up something you can live without and then ask for tubs and storage containers. You would be surprised the replies you get.

I got a wild hair one day and ended up giving away two truck loads full of stuff. And guess what, I can live fine without it. And I know that those who got it, needed it more than me.

I know it is tough being under someone else's thumb no matter the reason. And sometimes you just want to be somewhere quiet that is yours where you can do whatever. But in time that will come. When those moments strike, take the kids to a park, stand in the middle (next to your kids) and you all let out the largest screams you can. It is okay to release. Heck, you will probably find yourselves laughing after you scream at the looks you get. And inside you will know that they want to scream too. We all do sometimes.

lots and lots of stacking shelves

When you live in small space like that it can get overwhelming. The best bet is to organize your space like a studio apartment into areas. Have a laundry hamper in the corner. Keep bins for kids toys and have a small playarea. Have a desk for office space and keep that stuff there. Use plenty of storage to maximize space. Use things that have dual purposes like a storage bin for toys can be used as a bench. There are websites out there with tips also.
