I want a Windowless PC but how can I convert all my Microsoft Office files?

I have accumulated years of MS Office files, some which I may need in the future. Has anyone gone through this transition from Windows to another OS and care to share a few tips? Thanks.

When you get to 'non windows', install Open Office from www.openoffice.org

It can read the majority of ms office files....
You can test this before you leave windows..cuz it works on windows too.

Any Linux OS has Open Office in it's repositories. With it you can do exactly the same thing as with MS Office .
http://www.mandriva.com/ or http://www.pclinuxos.com/ are ideally suited for begginers (no drivers or complicated configurations required), and with Open Office already in. You don't even need to install them to try them, just boot from the optical disk and run them in Live-CD mode .

You don't need to convert anything. Use OpenOffice, although there may occur some problems, but generally it's ok and knows most of what MS Office does.

openoffice.org reads microsoft files perfectly, except for the microsoft office 2007 files
