Are women naturally more intolerant of temperature extremes?

I work in a large office setting of about 100 employees or so.

As the office manager, I have to listen and respond to complaints about the office being too hot or too cold. Every day, I receive (on average) about 3 complaints about the office temperature. These complaints are ALWAYS made by women. (I've never had a male complain)

Don't get me wrong. There have been times in the past where I've felt that the temperature was either a little too hot or a little too cool. However, I've never felt an inclination to complain about it or request a temperature adjustment.

The reason I ask this is because when you share open workspace with 100 employees, it is difficult if not impossible to keep the temperature at a setting that will please everybody. Every time we turn the temperature up 1 degree, someone in turn starts complaining that it's too hot. Every time we turn it down 1 degree, someone starts complaining that it's too cold. This continues in a cycle, ad nauseam.

I think women really are more intolerant of extreme temperatures. I know I am! I think it has something to do with the way women's hormones are constantly changing, throughout their cycles and throughout their lives. I worked in an office last summer where the boss was going through menopause, so she was always hot and always kept the A/C very cold. When she was comfortable, I had to wear a hoodie with the hood up and gloves!
Men also generally have more muscle than women, which helps a bit with warmth... so while a thin man might be comfortable in a moderate temperature, a thin woman is more likely to be chilly. Older women carry more weight than most men, so they are more likely to be too hot.
My advice - send a memo out asking everyone in the office what they would prefer the temperature to be. Then find the average, and set it at that temperature all the time. That way, everyone had their say, and no one can complain!

I know that some women have hormone imbalances and thyroid issues. At least that's why I'm more prone to temperature extremes. Mainly colds.

They just work harder and whine less. That is how women have been socialized.

Yes, they are more intolerant, hence, the complaints, and I hate it when they use the AC even in the winter. I mean come on!
