Textbook bums? |
What do you think of college students who bum textbooks? On the syllabus, it says clearly "Textbook Required". But, many people are cheapskates and try to bum them from other students. One student in my class sits by me every week and expects me to share with her. Once during the break, she borrowed it and the CD rom fell to the floor. She left it there. She gets a copy from the library and uses it there. But, they don't let people check them out. She also bums the instructor for her textbook during class activities and to cram before the tests. I couldn't afford the book either. But, I bought it anyway. The EOPS office at the college has financial assitance for textbook purchases. Or, she can put it on her credit card. Our instructor says the same people who say they cannot afford textbooks, make appointments to have their hair and nails done, go out to dinner, buy new clothes, and take their kids to Disneyland. So, she said it is a matter of priorities. What do you think? If you don't want to share, don't. Sheesh. You don't know her financial situation and have NO BUSINESS deciding what her priorities should be. |
