Has any U.S. President held 3 terms in office? Isn't that against our Constitution?

If Bill Clinton is running for Vice President under Hillary Clinton and something happens where Hillary would be unable to serve her term if elected, wouldn't the Presidency by law have to skip Bill and be passed on to the Speaker of the House?

Is it lawful for Bill Clinton to even run for Vice President with his wife, knowing he cannot fulfill the position of President if needed? And if Hillary was impeached, wouldn't her husband be a part of this as a household connection with shared funds, etc.?

FDR was in office for more than two terms. The 22 amendment limited presidents to two terms. FDR was in office before this was passed.

Bill cannot run for VP, he has already served 2 terms. Franklin Roosevelt ran for 4 terms before that particular amendment was ratified.

I don't think Bill could be VP because you can't have a family member in a cabinet position (law was changed after JFK made his brother RFK the attorney general).

FDR served 3 1/2 terms before he died...Constitution was changed after that.

FDR up until him it was only implied... The Country was in the midst of a world war and to change Commander and Chief was not a wise move so this is a reason that facilitated the 3 consecutive terms.

holding 3 CONSECUTIVE terms is not allowed. They may step aside for 4 years and then apply for the job again.

The Constitution does not have to stipulate these terms, people. If a president has been elected two consecutive terms he may not run a third consecutive time. This is in the Constitution. There is nothing STOPPING him, however, from stepping aside for a term and RErunning. Why do you assume it needs to be written in order to be allowed?

well...why would it change? i realize JUST how difficult it is to fathom the concept that Bill and Hillary are two separate people, but try. NO, the constitution will not be changed because HCLint is rational and, as far as i can tell, would feel no need if she WERE president to take this new "law" to the Congress. And Congress would never pass it. Therefore, no...it will not be changed... but i thought that was self-explanitory
