Obstruction of Justice and Interfering with custody?

Someone I know was charged with obstruction and interfering with custody when they came to take her 10 year old disabled sister from their mother. They only asked my friend for the mother they did not show a paper or anything saying they were there to take the sister so she got her mom and went back upstairs and closed the door to her room also here sister shares a room with her due to medical problems. She forgot the door lock was on when she closed the door and the social worker says she knocked on her door and that she would not let them in but she was on her phone tryin to call someone to come down to see what was happening cuz it was too much commotion going on they charged her with both of those charges the obstruction I dont know why they charged her with that they took her to jail she spent 31/2 hrs or so there and they gave her a ourt date for 2morrow what should she do The public defenders office is closed due to the snow This is her first offense they are misdemenors i think

Whoever answered you with, learn your lesson and obey the authorities should take a little advice themself; obiviously a pride issue of an ignorant individual - take it however you wish !! Here's the facts; seek any council avaiable to get the court date pushed back, the charges will most likely be dropped anyways, or at the most, have a set probation and a ridiculous fine, probably ($300 - 500). The pig that charged the individual doesn't have time to be in court for every charge, so there's an opportunity. If for some reason, the pig does show up, you'll have a better chance of a jury trial, rather than a judge judy.

She should call the police to see if the paperwork is authentic. How does she know who the person is at the door

The charges might get dropped. Also, she cannot be tried without representation so if there is no PD there will be no hearing until she gets legal counsel. Tell her to tell the judge that she wants counsel and to not agree to anything without it.

Let this be a lesson learned. Always cooperate with the authourities.
