How do you get your Real Estate License and how can you become successful in that profession?

I have been interested in it for awhile - I worked at a law office for a couple years - would that help me get my foot in the door at a Real Estate company? Anyone have any advice or experience to share with me?

I would do a search online for real estate school and the state you are in. Also look arond when you are driving, that is how I find a real estate school. Or, if you want to take online classes try www.recampus.com, which is offered by the national association of realtors. But I would suggest going into a classroom to take the courses, but that depends on how you personally learn best.

And yes, that law experience may get your foot in the door at a real estate company, but I would say shop around for a prospective employer and ask many different questions. Decide if your want to be an employee or independent contractor and also look closely at their comission splits, desk fees, etc. Hope this helps!

Every state has it's own laws about how to get a real estate license. I would look on the Internet for the real estate commission in your state.

To be successful I would get a mentor in the type of real estate you want to be successful in. Work for them and learn the business. That is how I did it.

I鈥檝e never known a real estate office to turn anyone way. They aren鈥檛 hiring you, they鈥檙e renting you space and letting you use their name. You are self employed, and you are 100% in charge of managing yourself. If it鈥檚 a really good office, they鈥檒l cover some of your costs and provide you with on-going education.
