I started a new job I take Dr prescribed anti-depressants. Info was shared with coworkers.is that legal?

I work in office and the anti-depressants. A woman at worked rferred to me as a "Psycho" When one takes a drug test is that info shared with everyone at the workplace?

chances are that this woman does not know that you take medications.
Maybe she just does not like you!

talk to your supervisor.
tell them what has happened and ask about their policy on sharing information.

just go right to the source.

The results of your drug tests are TOTALLY CONFIDENTIAL. I suggest you take this up with an employment atty immediately. This is a Federal Law to protect against employment discrimination and also falls under the ADA act.

All medical information is covered by HIPPA, and is privileged information. No one but you in the medical department should have acess to the information. If the co-worker called you "Psycho" because of her knowledge of your use of anti-depressants you should report the situation to Human Resources as to allow them to investigate the situation and take corrective actions. However, if her use of the name was completely coincidental (not because she knows you are prescribed the medication) ask her to stop.

actually, drug-test results are highly confidential. i work for a company that employees truck drivers and what we have to go through to get drug test results is amazing! who shared the info with your co-workers? i think you would have some recourse with that. try talking to your HR person or your supervisor. that's definately a breach of confidentiality. make sure that you did not sign something in your application packet that allows them to divulge personal info.
