What to do about a friend who thinks he's better than everyone but thinks he's being subtle about it?

Ok..so me and my friend have this mutual friend that we'll call Tom. Well, Tom and my friend also share an office.
Now, all of us, Tom, my friend, and I read and respond to journal entries on live journal. Well..in reading Tom and his boyfriend's posts, I've started to pick up on "snarky" comments like when he says: " My generation is boring, narcissistic and politically and economically apathetic. I see it every time a young person says they won't vote, that they are voting for someone that contradicts what they claim to value in the very next breath or say they aren't following the election. I see the broader dumbing down when I grade papers". Or

"I don't know what I'd do without you and my family who always provide a bit of fresh air."

To me, these comments make me feel like he thinks he's above the rest of us, especially with his comments on how things are "absurd" and so forth. You'd think someone working on a Master's degree in sociology would be more open mind

ed. But at the same time, he's very intelligent and can be a very interesting person to get to know. I just don't like his snobbiness at times. What should I do?

When he starts to act like that, just ignore him or try to change the subject. I know how you feel my whole community is filled with people like that, especially since I'm hispanic they think that they're of a higher class than me just because they're American.....He probably doesn't mean to be like that and he probably doesn't have any malicious intentions he is just really confident =D.........

find something he sucks at and make a big deal about it whenever he gets going - or make an inside joke about it. like every time he does it, be like oh ya? what about table tennis?

let him know when he is out of line and how he is affecting your views toward him because of his verbal expressions.. If he is a true friends he will understand... and maybe try to be less harsh with his feelings... but you have to remember opions are like butt hole...and evry one has one....LOL.. GOOD LUCK
