Would this seem like taking advantage of the system?

I am a transsexual (ftm) and a college student. I also have a lot of difficulty dealing with sound -- I think I may have Asperger's syndrome.

This last fall, I contacted my RA and the residency/student life office to try to get my own room. I ended up changing rooms because I couldn't get a diagnosis that the university would accept.

Do you think that people would think I'm "playing" the university to get my own room if I came out as a transsexual this fall? I want to come out, and I don't think that I could have a roommate because we're grouped by sex in the rooms and suites.. that is, a girl and a guy can't live together, and a guy in his own room can't share a bathroom with two girls.

So would it seem like I'm manipulating the university in a ploy to get my own room?

No not at all, and never let anyone tell to any different.

In my experience most college dorms have some sort of seniority system. For example, when you're a freshmen you are paired up with a roommate and the chances of getting your own room are very slim.

If you decide to live in the dorms again your sophomore year (or junior, senior years), you're then moved up the ladder so to speak and have an easier chance of getting your own room anyways.

That being said, I would think it wouldn't be a problem getting your own room from a logistical res-life stand point. If people *did* see it as an issue, I would just tell them that you got your own room because you're a soph (or junior or senior).

Both Asperger's Syndrome and Transsexualism would be valid reasons to request a private room. So, I guess I'm not seeing why you think you would be manipulating the university on this one.

The only considerations you may want to ponder is whether you are ready for the potential negative backlash of outing yourself as a transsexual and the difficulties you may face in convincing the student life office of your gender identity.

No, I don't think it would be asking too much. You're the reason for such rules, no offense.

wow FtM!
How expensive was it to get you a c*ck?
If you could afford that, I'm sure you can afford a room my friend.
If you don't have a c*ck you are not a transsexual but a tomboy, and you'll be sharing your room with another girl.
