Tax is so depressing does anyone feel like committing suicide ?

I mean, there is so much tax but why then is there no proper public transport, why does childcare cost so much, why are there no government ferry boats to help people going on holiday, why is there no proper public sector jobs, why does the UK not give some compassion to the homeless, why does UK not give people a chance to get educated and still they take so much tax and at the tax office they will not even let your kids watch dvds while you talk about your confusions over tax and they refuse to answer questions. Why and how can i sort out these problems ? Perhaps we would be better off leaving the country please give your opinions and share your experiences especially on the hardships faced by working families and the most unhelpful tax office you have ever visited and we will all be more wise and less stressed and suiciday !

I used to work for Inland Revenue (now HMRC) and that's certainly how I felt.

Tax should be voluntary.

First off, you need to learn that taxes don't just pay for stuff for you.

Second, if it troubles so so VERY much, hire an accountant.

UK is poo I agree...childcare cost is a joke!I'm not working at the moment and my partner earns 拢11000 pa and yet we don't get any help with benefits because we're not classed as a low income family.

If you stop and ask yourself who is going to pay for all this stuff the answer should be obvious... you. This is the problem with socialism, everybody wants something for nothing and no one wants to pay. It's why Karl Marx's theory was just so much bunk, because he failed to take into account human nature. You talk about the coutnry giving you everything, but where is the country going to get it? Somebody has to make it, and who will pay them? Do you expect everybody to give you everything you want for free?

So go out and kill yourself now because there are no free boats to take people on vacation - that makes a lot of sense.

We in the UK are just over-taxed. Sure, public services have to be paid for, but whereas working people have to watch every penny they earn - the government will take it off them and waste millions. The reason for this is, people who work very hard for their money soon learn not to waste it and to try and spend it wisely. The government does not have to work for it, they just take it like highway robbery, and waste a lot of it.
Changing the goverment doesn`t help either, cos they are all the same. Mind you, the UK is not alone in this by a long chalk.

Child care IS expensive because they have to be registered and pay minimum wages
That is the same for EVERY job here if you pay every one decent wages the price of every thing goes up

YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THINGS - that includes our health care , pensions , roads , water, the bins being emptied , libraries

I have ALWAYS found the TAX offices helpful and polite both in my 30 years in industry ( PAYE) and my 10 years self employed running my own business

I have a long list of qualifications in Cheistry . Metallurgy and Engineering did a MSc
I failed my 11 plus but reckon I had a great secondary education which helped me to get educated - even if that some times did mean college for 12 hours a day

This is the BEST country to get educated IF you are prpared to put the work in.

This si the BEST country IN THE WORLD if you have an accident or life thretening illness - there may be irritations if you have a minor injury or illness mut they will not let you die in the street if you don't have a credit card AS IN AMERICA

If you can not handle your problems you should not have had kids and should not expect OTHERS to look after them

Apart from the stupid answer you had previously i certainly agree with you, it seems life is one BIG up hill struggle, im struggling to pay the mortgage every month i havent even got 拢20 spare this week and im in debt, sometimes i could cry, and as for the wonderful council tax bill we are all going to get it makes me sick, i pay 拢113 a month and my house is just a 3 bed ex council house we bought 3 years ago it really needs doing up and paying out nearly 拢30 a week...... i really do cry ...my son need new shoes and we cant afford it i buy everything cheaply, my husband hates his job but he works very hard,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,i pray every day that something will improve.........but it wont
