WHAT has Mexico got to do with American Laws?

I just read an interesting article about Mexico's President attempting to come into this country, and influence American views pertaining to "rights" for Mexican workers in this country. Then I read the well stated and coherent reply by Bryan McClellan on January 24, 2008, and the lines:

"We welcome all who come here legally and obey our rules, but clearly you seek to circumvent the will/laws of the American people and hope to shovel a pile of bullshit across our border so high that you make us the bad guy, when in reality it is you who are attempting tear the fabric of our nation asunder by ignoring the homegrown plight of your countrymen."

I had two immediate reactions:

1.) I was appalled by the article. This head of State thinks that he can just strut about this country, stump speeching to whomever will give him audience, in favor positions that he was not invited to take? Who the Hell does this clown think he IS?

2.) Why? Why are those that are supposed to be protecting this country not telling this clown to pack up and get out, and don't come back until invited to do so?

Then of course I realized who it was that we were talking about, and the answer was apparent.

Then a third thought occurred:

He is being allowed to do the talking for them...he's a diversion of the "smoke and mirrors kind" that will allow the opportunists running for office in this country the chance to "magically" appear out of the fog, and "take on" the issue by appearing to share a certain "solidarity" with the clown and his road show (read as B.S.) for immigrant rights.

Personally, I agree with Mr McClellan when he states that we welcome the ones that are here legally. The immigrants that come here within the limits of the law, all seem to have one thing in common: They believe that this country is better than what they came from, and they believe in this country, and its way of life. One cannot be loyal to two cultures or manners of personal conduct any more than one can flap your arms and expect to fly.

Be an American, be legal, make all effort to successfully assimilate to American values...or GET OUT.

I'd like to get everyone's attention to the root cause of the real reasons. There are three main reasons listed within the context of my answer. But they can't be accomplished without four (getting citizenship, or dual citizenship) and five, the votes the "new citizens of American" will make on Mexico's behalf.

It's more about getting citizenship. American, Dual or multiple from countries that allow it and accept it. So that when the time comes, the countries of origins that these dual and multiple citizens have come from, (not all of them, just those who remain loyal to their original country of origin) will vote to favor their own countries politically, economically, and culturally interests. Essentually wiping out the very fabric and foundation a country was founded on. In this case, the U.S.

Here's some interesting reading I came across while doing a search regarding dual citizenship, and multiple citizenship of other countries, as well as the U.S. Which ironically in the study, says that although the U.S doesn't formally recognize dual citizenship, yet doesn't take a stand politically or legally, against it either. I want my President to also have a clear position against this as well. Especially when it comes to another country pulling this kind of stuff to politically, economically, and culturally take over this country. Those with dual/multiple citizenship allowed to vote in our countries policies as well as other countries to change the complete fabric of which each of those countries and the U.S were founded on. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that other countries people who come and get dual/multiple citizenship here are doing exactly what Mexico is doing with regards to these additional issues.

In part to get you started...

"In a private meeting with U.S. Latino leaders in 1995, Mexican President Zedillo (quoted in Vargas 1996, 3)27 said that his government would support the then-pending constitutional and other legal changes, allowing dual-citizenship to "increase the political clout of Mexican Americans." Why was he interested in doing that? For one reason, because his goal was to "develop a close relationship between his [Mexico's] government and Mexican Americans, one in which they could be called upon to lobby U.S. policy makers on economic and political issues involving the United States and Mexico" (Corchado, 1995a, 11A, emphasis mine; see also Vargas, 1996, 3)."

And

"The government of Mexico is investing in Mexican Americans now and plans to collect tomorrow. Recognizing their political and economic power in the United States, but aware of their familial and spiritual links they continue to maintain with Mexico, the country of their ancestors, the Mexican government is hoping to contribute to the development of a powerful and effective lobby ready to represent and defend the interests of Mexico in this country (1996, 9, emphasis mine)."

This stuff just gets more frustrating as more info comes to light doesn't it.

mendi18a - The U.S probably would if others from other countries would honor the expirations on their visas, and then leave the country. But they don't, and that's what they bring upon themselves for not being able to be trusted to stay for a given period of time, and then leave.

edit - slew, Mexico's President is coming here Feb, of this year. That joker again is going to plead that America and Americans grant amnesty to the illegals that are here, and a pathway to citizenship. He said so in a speech to his people a bit back from out of Mexico. When he stops dumping his citizens on this country, and cares for them himself, then and only then will I respect what he has to say. But what he has to say is the same crap Vincente' Fox has always said. And not a one of them (Calderon, Fox, and the illegals) should have this kind of influence regarding our laws and policies in this country. EVER!!

And why are they always PRIVATE meetings?!! American people, and the public have a right to know what they are pulling or trying to pull behind our backs. Whether our elected government officials like it or not. Report It

You have to remember that a president in Mexico has only one term

He has nothing to work for except the people breaking laws and how much money they give him to protect them

SInce he can not solve his own countries problems, we sure as hell do not need his advice on how to run our country. But you also got to consider that Mexico's 2nd highest source of income is from money sent back to Mexico from illegals in the US. So he is here tring to secure this stock in US dollars.

I agree. What other country puts its border security and immigration policy on the honor system? It started with the 1986 Reagan amnesty which only encouraged the invasion that has followed.

Why is he so concerned?

Because those illegal immigrants that are here in the US are the #1 source of foreign money coming into Mexico. Now, this is ahead of the authorized money that comes from our government for aid and such.

So if we get tough on immigration here in the US, the Mexican government stands to lose BIG TIME!

a well placed sniper might set it all in motion....

mexico has nothing to do with our laws except for what we allow them to get away with as commentary. it tickles me to see a lay person take on a head of government with comment that's so solid there's no defense against it. mexico does however need to MIOB. we need to keep speaking out until our government is forced to do the job it was entrusted to which is to represent its citizens best interests.

Man F-Mexico! If Mexico was so good then why is it third world country ??? Thats right there like ppl in Africa.

I see your point. However, you have to see it from his point of view that he can't change the status of Mexico all at once overnight. What I get from this is both sides. Yes, he is trying to manipulate the laws and try to govern as if he were talking to the Mexican people. But I also see that he is looking for the well-being of his people. I admire him for doing that, but he went about it the wrong way. Just like Bush and like you said, the US should pull out of the war. It is clear that they don't want us there so, "Be an American, be legal, make all effort to successfully assimilate to American values...or GET OUT."

i agree! get with the program or pack your family up and head south. they have no say on what our laws are.

I think people should read the question. He wants to influence our opinion of Mexican Workers. There is nothing said about Tourist or Mexican Americans.

If they are legally here, I would agree with him. We should ensure those who recieve the proper visas to be treated right, and those who don't should be treated apporpriately when we in prison them or deport them. Frankly, I believe our country has become too tolerant, and would like to see more work camps to force illegal immigrants to pay back for any inappropriate expenses. Such as welfare fraud or tax evasion.

In your opinion you ignore the fact that:

1)Mexican Americans are our largest minority, legally.
2)Mexico is our 2nd largest trading partner.
3)Mexico is our nearest neighbor.

Although I agree with you totally, you really didn't ask a question, remember, you were supposed to be asking a question, not telling us what you think! But, thanks for the information, it was interesting!

It all comes down to this. Any American can go into Mexico and get a 6 mo. visa to stay in paradise or the slums. No Mexicans can just drive to the border and get a visa for 6mos that same day. We as Americans are born with that priveledge and Mexicans are not given the same courtesy. So say what you want about the Mexican president, we should at very least allow for more immigrants to visit legally.
