Are there any free internet "classes" to learn better computer skills.?

I have an associates degree from community college and took a few very basic computer courses but. really don't know if I could even call myself computer literate. All these jobs I would like to apply for call for applicates to be familiar with particular computer programs such as power point or excel or as it is usually put : "must be computer literate". I can type (although not particularly fast) and have some other basic office skills and experience. However, its becoming obvious to me that my associates degree isn't going to help me get a descent job without becoming more proficient in more computer programs like excel. Are there any places on the net I can go to do this that are free? I really have no money to pay for something like this right now. Anyone got any ideas or sites they can share with me where I can learn more computer skills that would enable me to become a more appealing and qualified candidate

There are quite a few out there, but you probably should search for something a bit more specific of what you want. For example, search with your favorite search engine for "Excel Tutorials" or maybe "Free Excel Tutorials". I found this one http://www.fgcu.edu/support/office2000/e... that seems to be decent on Excel for example.

you have all you need on you pc under Help. Most programs have a reasonable tutorial you can work your way through. You can also go to your local book store and but a "Dummies" book, they are great because the put all into plain english instead of computer jargon. Or if you real keen you can go get a tafe course on what ever subject you want, on line with a tutor?

Hi Jess -

Something that might be of interest could be CNET courses. They're free and cover a variety of areas. You even get a free "diploma" for the class - in pdf format so you can print it with your name on it.
Fun and easy way to get one's feet wet and to learn. Hope that's of some help!
