If your coworker have a very bad strong body odor and you share the office and he is new how you handle it?

The kid is young and a nice guy but this odor is keeping me out of my office and from my work.God forgive me.

If he's nice then he should be able to take a little criticism. Just be polite and kind and explain to him that his odor issue is becoming unbearable and interfering with your work.

If he does not do anything about it, it needs to be reported to your superior. There's no reason your work should suffer because of this.

To get rid of the odor in the mean time, try this stuff called "Approach" (www.approachit.net) it's great for taking BO and any bio odor out of a room and should freshen things up considerably (no perfumy stuff so the guy won't get annoyed).

You may also suggest he get some of it too to spray himself with. It could be he's trying deal with his odor but hasn't found something to eliminate it yet.

Good Luck!

Just tell him... He needs someone to point it out to him.

see the boss

I'd discuss hygiene with him to see if you can figure out why he's smellin

Get those plug in air fresheners and put them where he cant see them

you have to say something.be kind be discreet, but do it.

It's a problem that management should address automatically. If they haven't ask them to do so. You shouldn't have to say anything about it and they should really think about their hygiene.

I have been through this 2 times. You either have to tell him or have someone tell him.

Leave him a note and don't sign it. Or just be honest and tell him that he has a odor that prevents you from working.

move the kid to the basement tell him to shower

Take a Glade plug-in to work with you tomorrow.

Let him know nicely.

buy him some Axe for his B-Day, Christmas, any special ocassion, sooner or later, he'll get the hint, include other co-workers and have them chip in too.

that job belongs to human resource, or your immediate supervisor. approach them the same way you did here. that's with kindness but something must be done.

I had a high-school history teacher who had body odor, but I did not want her to lose her job over it, so I did'nt say anything. Have you ever tried to tell him in a polite manner about it? Try to be as tactful as possible, he might not be aware it bothers you.

Tell him that you like his deodorant. hahaha

talk to him privately and nicely tell him about the situation and give him tips on how to get rid of the odor.

Try a gift basket of soaps and scents. Enclose a small, discreet, note mentioning the ventilation system, perhaps, blows the wrong direction? You may have to resort to more aggressive measures, like telling him/her that he/she reeks of cigarettes, rotten eggs, cow ferilizer someones basement, sewers after the flood, not to mention bean and sulfur farts. I have noticed in my own world how it is best to start with honey and sweetness. No matter what, be discreet so there is no chance of harassment being brought against you for humiliating coworker! Best of luck to you on this delicate endeavor!

I HAD THIS PROBLEM, BUT JUST FOR A FEW MINUTES, WHILE HE WAS HELPING MOVE FURNITURE IN, NICE GUY, SEEMED; I FELT SORRY FOR THE OTHER GENTLEMAN THAT HAD TO WORK WITH HIM, I MEAN IT WAS ALMOST UNBEARABLE; I TOOK THIS GUY ASIDE & ASKED HIM IF HE WOULD PLEASE USE A STRONGER DEODERANT, AFTER HIS SHOWER; FOR EVERYONE'S SAKE, PLEASE!!!! HE WORKED WITH OUR COMPANY, THE NEXT TIME I SAW HIM- I JUST SAID, "THANK YOU" & WE EVEN SMILED; SO THINK IT HELPED TO TO JUST TALK TO HIM, OPENLY & HONESTLY; I DON'T SEE HIM ON A REGULAR BASIS, PER SAY, BUT ....THE CALL IS YOURS, YOU HAVE TO WORK WITH HIM.

is a touchy subject to be sure, but think only thing you can do is kindly tell them how you feel. i knew of one person who had a medical condition that caused bad ordor. Nothing could be done....all we could do is deal with it. most is not like that, is a hygiene problem as in "no take bath"...so tell them to do so.

just buy him a little gift bag, fill it with soap, shampoo and deodorant...he should get the hint.you do not have to sign your name on the tag.

just tell him he needs to take a shower

try this.. hay pal you stink !

Drop a bottle of deoderant on his desk.

Smear a fresh dog turd under his desk, he will think its himself and scrub like hell that nite. When he comes in clean and fresh smelling tell him how nice he smells. He will keep it up.
