My office mate's open mouth chewing is driving me crazy.?

So how do I confront him without upseting him? He is constantly chewing gum in our office (we share the office) with his mouth open and smacking his lips. I constantly have to listen to my IPod so that I can drown out the noise.

Just let him know, you dont have to be rude. Pull him aside where no one else can hear and tell him that you don't mean to sound rude but his chewing habits are distracting. If he gets offended then ohh-well at least you we're kind enough to tell him.

Say if you keep chewing like that, a fly is going to go in your mouth. Worked on one of my friends.

just be honest, say "hey, ca nyou chew that with your mouth closed?" or say it in a joking way like " yea...to bad you cant chew with your mouth closed"

oh...i hate that! it drives me insane..i would prob put off telling him because i dont want to be mean or anything but just try telling him maybe. Ask him to please stop.

why are you worried about upsetting him? he's the one being rude. ask him if he ever thinks he's going to be invited to sit in a board room if he doesn't master enough self-control to eat like a civilized human being.
