Discrimination? I want to place an ad "Office Space to Share with Professional. No Republicans.? |
To be honest, I just don't like Republicans. Sorry, the truth of the matter is I avoid them like the plague. I have my reasons based on my experience with them. No disrespect intended but I have an extra office to rent but I can't stomach sharing space with a Republican. Any problems with discrimination laws, newspaper or professional journal editorial policies? The first answer proves why I don't like Republicans, among many other things, they are smug, condescending and patronizing. Not that smart either. I am not talking discrimination against clients. I am talking about choosing who I work with, in a professional capacity. That kind of relationship is like a marriage. I sure as hell wouldn't have married a Republican. Well, guess what, I am a republican, and i like your questions, and I totally respect your opinion. I certainly hope that you can find a good tenant. Really not all rep. are as bad as the ones you've had dealings with....LOL:) I'm not a republican, but I think you should be sued out of your job. You claim to be a professional, but this post proves how unprofessional you are. Do the world a favor and either straighten up, or leave your job. You are discriminating for race, sex, or orientation...I think you can run the ad all you want...you will be deluged with Republicans ..they love to mess everything they touch up. How does this party survive? It is unbelieveable that Americans are really so stupid, but such is the case. At least a Republican could pay the rent. The Democrat would need a subsidy or a government grant. political affiliations are not protected from discrimination by the government. run the ad Perhaps a better alternative is to advertise in specialty newspapers and magazines that have a progressive readership. That way, your ad will only be seen by those that would be agreeable to you. discrimination is in how you word it LOL Thanks for the question reading the answers has been amusing. I find the question quite amusing. I never understand the big government types they want the government to tell everyone else how to live but then you want to find a way around the laws you support. I dont get it, you call Republicans not very smart but you, presumably an enlighten Democrat, can't even answer your own common sense question. Does the following ring a bell? Title VII of the Civil rights Act. Race. Religion. Color. Sex. National Origin. I dont see political affiliation there, do you? I wouldn't rent to a Muslim Terrorist or a Democrat myself... Please dont make a blank statement calling Republicans "not very Smart"... I am not sure the no Republicans will keep you from being a happy office space sharer. Will you be happy with a Democrat that does not pay their bills? Would you be happy with an Independent who disagrees with your views? I worked for a great boss and he made it part of our employee agreement that we were not to discuss/promote political views. As an independant I could see where a republican could be offended by the "I avoid them like the plague" or "I can't stomach sharing space with a It is only discrimination if it would adversely effect a protected class, such as (Sex, Religion, Race, etc...). Obviously, stating this preference would not violate that law directly. However, you must take a deeper look, because it is not that simple. There have been cases when a fairly innocent wording or preference lead to a lawsuit and judgement. For example, if you stated "I would prefer someone from the Westside of town". This statement, does not, by it'self violate the law. However, if they Westside of Town is pre-dominately White, then it could be argued that you are adversely affecting hispanics, asian, african americans, etc, etc... why don't you contact a local realtor, and ask them, or look up "Fair Housing Act" or "Equal Housing Opportunity" to find out. Political associations are not a protected class in the Fair Housing Act. I think you can place an ad that says that, although you might be limiting yourself for possible tenants. How about something that says, "no political discussions allowed" |
