Anything I can do about this mold??

My work is an older tin building & bc there have been so many leaks in the roof over the years, the ceiling has become over run with mold. Anytime it rains, our supply closet floor becomes soaked with water because of a leak & the floor is very musty & moldy. It's so bad that we can not put anything on the floor in there. My office shares a wall with this closet & almost every day about 15 minutes after arriving to work I end up with a wicked headache that doesn't subside until about 20 minutes after I've left work. The owners of the company are "trying to fix" the problem. There really isn't anything they can do, other than to completely replace everything. Anyway, is there anything I can do to help with the headaches I'm getting from the mold? It has to be from the mold, bc when it doesn't rain or I'm not at work, I don't get these. Any suggestions? Just any suggestions on alieviating the reaction to the mold. Things like tylenol don't help at all. Allergy meds haven't worked either

You can kill the mold with bleach. It will come back with repeated leaking though.

It is dangerous to be around that many mold spores in an enclosed environment. They can take root in your body, growing in lungs or even the brain. You need to find a different job or a force them to fix it. Perhaps call the health dept? or osha? You may be killing yourself with your job.

Ask our employer if they could have a plastic tarp placed over the area where the roof leaks. Kinda tee pee it. To help keep the moisture out.
Also, you can get a pump sprayer ($9.00 at Lowes) fill it with warm water and bleach to spray in the area where the mold is at its worst.

This needs to be dealt with immediately and absolutely. Some types of mold are highly toxic to people, this could be one of those molds. You could send samples of the mold in to a lab for testing and threaten a lawsuit.
Please be strong about this with your company, you could be permanently jeopardizing your health. Below are some internet sites that came up when I did a search on "toxic mold."

Mold can be toxic and usually is. Demand it be fixed. Other than wearing a resperator which you can get a mask at any hardware store there is not much you can do and taking it into your body can cause death...call the health dept and have them check the mold...your landlord has to fix it or can face charges of endangerment. Dont play around with this once the mold is in your system it usually cannot ever get out...if this is a toxic mold...which most are..you are in deep trouble and could loose your life with it.

You are compromising your long term health by exposing yourself to this mold problem. Taking medicine is not going to help you. You are carrying this stuff home on your clothes and shoes and if conditions are right at home this stuff could take off there too.

Everyone must be evacuated and the room sealed off. Testing done and remediation done correctly.

You could use a tyvak suit to work and use a resperator but I doubt if they would like this.

This is a serious problem. Is your health/life worth your paycheck? Call the health department.

Molds and fungi release spores
into the air. the mold can release clouds into the area at
night. Are you in a high humidity area?
Actually, your employer should not have any workers in that building. It is against
OSHA and a known health
hazard. You are breathing this in all day.
You should look for another job. It could be harming your
lungs. Actually, its almost
as bad as asbestos.
