How can I get my coworker to shut up!!! Help me!!!!?

I started a new job 2 months ago as a legal assistant. The attorneys all have private offices. I share with another legal assistant. She never stops talking. Even if I have the earplugs in and am transcribing, she keeps talking, even though I don't answer. I have to keep stopping to see if she is saying anything about work that I need to know. Rarely she does. If she is transcribing, she talks even louder, "What does he mean?" "Why did he say that?" I have told her she talks too much and her response was , "Tell me about it." I told her how distracting it is when she talks while I'm transcribing but she continues to talk and do impersonations and quote cartoon characters. She has told me several times intimate details of her personal life which I definitely don't want to hear. How can I get her to shut up? She is a good co-worker otherwise, very helpful and patient and a good teacher. I don't want to alienate her.

I would take these steps, if one doesn't work proceed to the next.

1. Tell her you need to talk to her, and set a time ie. at lunch or after work, be polite but stern and tell her you are very serious.

2. Warn her if she doesn't respect your request that you will take the matter to the boss.

3. Set a time with your boss, and have the conversation with your boss.

4. Tell your boss that the problem is still going on, ask to be separated from her.

5. Look for a better job.

6. Put ex-lax in the coffee, at this point both she and your boss deserve it.

7. Put sugar in their gas tanks.

8. Kill her dog or kids etc.

9. Burn her house down.

10. Shooting rampage at work followed by suicide from police shooting.

Tape her and then play it back sometimes [ well always ] we never hear are self...so let her hear.

You both may get a laugh and some peace and quite.

just tell her to please not talk so much when yall are working but when lunch break comes to talk away...far away..away out the door!!

First off tell your boss and if that doesn't work just freak out at her and scream at her and stuff she'll probably be quiet then.

Tell the big boss that she is making you less productive.... it's true!

.... and get her fired!

Have a heart to heart talk with her and let her know that you respect her and expect the same in return. Let her know exactly what bothers you. If she continues to be a pest, go to your boss about it. Good luck!
