I need a MS Windows / Word expert. Cannot open Word docs on a network share when I am away from the office.?

I can access the share and can open any other files just fine. Additionally, I can open these same Word docs when I'm in the office. Lastly, When remote, I can't open Word to create a new document, except by opening an existing document first. Reinstall/Repair Office & replacing the normal.dot file does not work. File permissions not a problem. I'm getting no error messages. Word just freezes and has to be stopped in the Task Manager. The solution in KB833041 is not the answer. I'm using Windows XP and office 2003. Help!

i would suggest contacting microsoft , they have good support , also geek squard , ,, im not sure how much microsoft costs , but geek squad does charge.
