Co-workers keep bringing fattening cookies/donuts to work. How can I resist them?

I need to lose weight and it's so hard when my co-workers bring all these goodies in to work to share with the office. Do any of you have the same problem?

Thanks for the great answers, everyone! :)

For me it was easy. Most of that stuff is chocked full of enriched white flour and sugar, usually corn syrup and/or high fructose corn syrup and other forms of fake junk. I once looked at the ingredients list of a box of Hostess mini-donuts and was beyond disgusted. I think there was even lard in there. ICK.

You could also just start making healthier alternatives to share. The other evening at my Bible study, I made a chocolate cake with no eggs or milk or fat and whole wheat flour. It went over very well. (Bananas or apples sauce can be used as an egg substitute; Applesauce works for oil, too. Do a search for "vegan egg substitutes". With that, you'll find some good vegan recipe pages, too. VegWeb is one of my favorites.)

I hope this helps.

I just keep my own healthy snacks available.

My office is chock full of goodies and treats. I told all of my co-workers that I had adopted a healthy lifestyle and would not be indulging. Then, I stopped eating them. It was rather easy, although I was tempted at times.

no, i dont really get into temptation. bring ur own snacks!

I have the same problem. I find that noone can eat just one, or even a nibble. So, when I decide against even a taste, then I'm usually good.

Another way that I've found is to go have a small piece of chicken, maybe a taste of meat from a salad .... w/o carbs.

keep your mouth busy and a tooth brush with you at all times....keep gum in your mouth and whenever you feel tempted to snack go brush your teeth..you will have a nice body and very clean teeth..you can also bring in other things that are good to snack on..like veggies and pretzels....

As soon as i finish this bagel i'll answer that for you :)

Yea, you must eat before work. Something healthy like a bagel whole wheat of course.

Yes, and personally, I think workplaces should not allow high sugar, high carb food except for special occasions (like birthdays) to be shared by the office since it lowers energy and therefore lowers productivity. It is unfair to the people who try to stay healthy.
I know there are not going to be "food police", not should there be, but I don't understand why everyone has the time to eat all of those goodies when they are supposed to be working.
Try taking healthy snacks to share. There are probably others there like you.
