How can I get Dreamweaver 8 to FTP through a firewall? I'm running a Mac G5 OS X 10.3.9?

I always used Dreamweaver no problems in our old office. We moved to a new office and are on a shared network now and I cannot get Dreamweaver (or any other program, Fetch etc.) to FTP through the firewall even though the network admin gave me the ip #s and ports that should have allowed it. He's not familiar with Macs or graphic software and I have no clue about firewalls or networks so you can see where this is a large problem.

go into terminal , tell the admin it's shell access.

use the ftp command and try to connect... you'll get the real errors that DW is hiding from you.

your admin should be familiar with shell access!

and use the ftp -v option!
-v Enable verbose and progress. This is the default if output is
to a terminal (and in the case of progress, ftp is the fore-
ground process). Forces ftp to show all responses from the
remote server, as well as report on data transfer statistics.

PS
SFTP (file transfer over ssh) is much more robust.
