Three friends went for summer vacation, so they went to a particular lodge since the owner of the lodge was a friend to one of these friends. when they reached the lodge the lodge
owner was not there so the office boy booked a room and said the rent for the room is Rs.30/- so the friends shared the rent amount by paying Rs.10/- each, when the owner returned he asked the office boy for status the office boy said that his friend has taken a room and he has paid Rs.30/- as rent. The owner said for new person only the rent is Rs.30/- for known persons and friend it is only Rs.25/- so return this Rs.5/- to him. so the office boy took the Rs.5/- and gave it to the friend of the owner. By being prompt the friend gave him Rs.2/- as tip and shared the balance Rs.3/- as each one. now, total Rent of the Room is Rs.30/- Shared each Rs. 10/-, tip to the office boy Rs.2/- and got back Rs.1/- each.so the equation is like this (3X9)+2= 29. room was 25 + 2 for tip= 27
30 - 3 = 27


the question is phrased to be confusing

you do not add what was returned to the cost of the room, you add what the boy kept
