Am I being annoyed too easily? |
My co-worker has been to work all of 30 minutes and has blown his nose almost constantly. We work in a small office with 6 of us sharing a 30 x 30 space. He sits right next to me and all I can hear is the gross phlemy noise of him blowing his nose (goose sounds sometimes too). No one else seems to notice? Should I say something. It's way gross. Ask about his health in a considerate manner, something like 'I've heard you sniffle and sneeze all winter now, did you see a doctor?'... then hope he takes the hint to do so if he hasn't yet. Similar thing for his burping, perhaps offer him some anti-gas antacids (not sure what the brand name is). I agree it's not fun sitting next to him but I used to have the sniffles and cough all winter long and you can't stay home from work all winter... He should have better manners than that. No, your annoyance is reasonable. No, I can see why you are annoyed. Obviously this person doesn't have any manners. Unfortunately the only thing you can do is ask him to blow his nose in the bathroom, because you don't want to get sick, and as for the burping, offer him Beano after lunch, maybe then he'll get the hint. Wow, if that is all you have to worry about, why are you complaining? Why dont you tell him to take that to the bathroom or see a doctor for his problem the other part is just nasty let him he is GROSS and see if you can move away from him you are annoyed for a good reason but you must do something about it or it will never end you could say some thing in a nice way,it means your badly affected but ,polite.you should not have to feel uncomfortable HAHAAHAHAHHAA!! throw a paper clip at him and then pretend ur typing. That's really nasty! I understand why you think it's gross, but what exactly do you expect him to do? Sniffle all day? He's got to do something about it or he won't be able to breathe. Just be sure not to shake his hand unless you know that he's cleaned it and if he starts leaving tissues around ask him to keep them to himself and wipe that area with a sanitary wipe. At least he isn't farting. I would be annoyed, but I think you just have to deal with it. Tell him that you can't concentrate on your work and could he please excuse himself to the bathroom if he needs to continue that behaviour. Apologize for inconveniencing him to soften the blow, but be clear you can't continue with him doing that. You have a right to a quiet work environment, not to mention a hygenic one! No, I had a co-worker like this and it drove me INSANE! I would suggest talking to a supervisor about it, don't speak to him directly about it. Just let the supervisor know that his constant nose-blowing distracts you from your work and see if he/she can speak to him about it. He should go to the bathroom to blow his nose, not do it in plain sight of his co-workers especially if he's being loud about it. I hope this helps! It would annoy me too. He can't help it because he has sinus and gas problems. Either change jobs or tolerate it. Dude, oh my goodness, the same exact thing happened to me with one of my roomates. She had like an infection and was blowing her nose at like 4 am. So I told her to go in the other room or something or else I was going to puke up all of what I had eaten for dinner. At first she just told me to get over it, and then she left to continue her acitivity elsewhere. |
