How can I create an affordable network?

I've got 3 PC's & 2 laptops at two offices over 20 miles apart. How can I share a common server with all computers? What hardware and software will work best for this setup? An intranet is not necessary just the ability to share files from either location.

The best option is to use a wireless at both remote locations to connect laptops and Desktops, unless you already have Cat 5 wiring run to the locations where the machines may be located. I would then ensure you had a DSL and/or Cable internet connection at each location. You could then do one of two things... 1) Create a site to site VPN which would require hardware that supports the creation of 'permanent' VPN between location A and B or 2) Use a VPN product from a vendor that allows multiple client VPN's to be established to a single VPN concentrator (i.e. http://www.netgear.com/Products/VPNandSS...

My preference would be Option1 but Option 2 is probably the most affordable of the two. Hope this helps!
