Race relations in America only goes one way?

Often I here that WHITE PEOPLE feel that they are tolerent of other races, and that just look at the work environment in america, there are people of all colors working at the office. However, this perspective that WHITE PEOPLE have is often not shared by other ethnicities, black, brown, yellow etc. For example, in an office whereby the majority is made up of WHITE PEOPLE, the few minorities that are present, often get socially isolated because the WHITE PEOPLE do ignore them and don't stretch a welcoming hand. In an office whereby the majority is BLACK or BROWN or YELLOW where WHITE is the minority, the BLACK, BROWN, YELLOW welcomes the WHITE and includes the WHITE in social relationships. In other words, colored folks treat WHITE people better than WHITE people do. Whites have a disinclination to MIX outside of their own race unless it is financially necessary to do so.

I AM NOT RACIST and its not fair to take an entire race and lump them all into one scoop. there are plenty of racist blacks,latinos,asians,etc. you name it there is at least ONE person that is racist. but probably more. they world is not so black and white. Report It

Ive had the opposite happen where blacks will ignore me unless I smile first. I talk to everyone. If theyre purple it doesnt matter. We are all made in Gods image.

I don't agree with your opinion at work we all work together and get along just fine! It sounds your anger is towards White folks? Well there isn't much I can do about your situation hope it get's better for you in the Future!

Hey I have been the minority in a job and the BLACK people made me feel isolated....they even told me the darker your skin the more senoirity you have there. So it works both ways honey.

First off, don't generalize all people of one race. That's ignorant and doesn't help anything. Second, I wouldn't say that the latter of your opinion is necessarily true. I think that race relations in America are strained from all sides. Not all minorities are welcoming towards white people. It also depends on what part of the nation you are in as well.

in my experience my friend i find the opposite is true,, i have a very good friend called ali who is from pakistan and now lives in glasgow,
we all get on well and noboby even mentions race or colour,however i have an active job that involves spending a lot of time in the community and although i am very opened minded and easy to chat to,,nearly all asians and ethnic people choose to keep them selves to their selves,,how are wqe ment to get to know them when they dont socialise with us, its like they live in a different planet from us,, i would love to meet new friends of any race creed/colour.as i find we can learn from each other but trust me my friend it is difficult to drag a conversation out of most people and sometimes i feel as if they are looking down on me despite the fact i have a trust worthy job and love looking after people,,

racism or the inability to extend welcome is a two-way street. i agree that in most offices where the majority of folks is non-white there seems to be a different feeling around lunch, special occasion and other get-togethers.
there are bad apples in every ethnic group. i think we just need to step outside our comfort zones and embrace the differences that make us unique. discrimination in any form, when it pertains to race, etc., is wrong. i am not a tree hugger or a person who sings koombayaa at the drop of a hat, i just wish all of us just try others on to see how they fit.

I can't say it's the same where I work...I have a mixture of docs from all the over the world that I work with. There are some white people here who do still think they are back in the 'stone ages' but for the most part everyone mixes just fine. It's the nitpicking trouble makes who try to make something out of nothing that would attempt to make an obersvation like that.

Although there are racist butt heads in every ethnic group, I have chosen to be color blind and not treat or speak to anyone differently. I have found that if I put forth the first effort in communication, people can tell I sincerely could care less what color they are and they respond in the same manner. The ethnic barrier successfully being broken down. To me this says that ethnic separation is caused mainly from fear of acceptance on all sides. Once this barrier break down has occurred, the racist butt heads have always been handled by their own people. They don't want me to be a part of handling it.
