How to network two pcs for file sharing.?

Ok, so someone please tell me what I鈥檓 doing wrong. Click on the link below and go to step 3 (because I don鈥檛 want to set up printer to share at the moment), I have followed everything this guy says in the video and I can鈥檛 manage to get file sharing right. At first I tried it at home and everything went ok until a not enough privileges to access computer, computer not seen in network or something like that pops up when I click the other computer that I鈥檓 trying to access.
I googled around and found out that I need to do this logged in as Administrator, ok fine did that and tried to do it on my desk top which has XP Home and the only way to log in as Admin is In save mode w/o networking. Did that and still having these privileges issues.
Next day I went to work and used my office desk top and tried it all over again (thinking it was an XP Home Admin issue and my office desk top is Media Center I was ok鈥? Long story short, it鈥檚 been three long days and can鈥檛 share files between two computers.
The Link that I mention is: http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-11334_7-623...
Btw鈥?I have Windows XP Pro on my laptop and another thing I forgot to mention is that the computers seems to see each other when I go to Network Places and click on View workgroup computers. Put when I click on it the privileges thing kicks in. Thank you in advance for your help.

there are to many variables to be able to help you outright...

your best bet would be to delete ALL of your networking profiles and settings and start from the beginning.

after everything is back to default. (delete profiles, settings)
1. plug in your network cable to both computers
2. on your MAIN desktop computer.. (win XP) click START > ALL PROGRAMS > ACCESSORIES > COMMUNICATIONS > NETWORK SETUP WIZARD

Click next

Click next (it make take a little while)

Choose your setting...(usually the first one)

Next screen shows up ... choose your connection

choose your computer description .. eg: (mikes computer)

leave the workgroup name as is

click next

turn on file and printer sharing

next and next.... (may take a while again, searching for the networks)

EASIEST WAY - choose use win XP disk.. click next and next

insert your Win XP cd/dvd in the other computer... and follow the instructions...

restart both computers and it "should" be able to share files...

try your .. MYDOCUMENTS shared folder first and try and transfer a text file... if it works... AWESOME...

if not... try someone elses suggestion or re-install windows...

hope it helps mate..

Hello. I had the same type of problems when setting up my network. I had great success in setting up my home network for file and printer sharing with the following program:

Good luck!
