How can I best share and store files within my small company?

I have a small company of 6 employees that work out of 1 office. Each employee has their own computer. I want a common place for everyone to store and share their files. In addition, I want to know that the files are safe in case the office burns down.

What would you suggest that I do?

For bonus points, how could I also protect paper documents?
How would you suggest that keep them electronically?

I would start an intranet. Buy a cheap server from Dell, HP, etc. and set a up a network. Most servers have data back up add-ons to keep your data safe. It will cost a few thousand dollars, but it will be well worth it in the long run.

For your paper documents, some file cabinets are fire proof. They are expensive, but will protect your documents. Banks usually use them. If you wanted to digitize your paper documents there are scanning systems out there for that exact purpose.
