Office gossip...? |
This is what happened... I'm new to my job and my boss doesn't treat me right. I don't have any friends yet in the office. So happened is, we have a new co-worker and she started to be nice to me. I hate gossiping but I just need somebody that I can trust and share on what I feel. I told her everything. Now, I feel like I should have not told her because I feel like I did a gossip. But I feel a lot better after I told her everything. But the thing is, I don't know if I trust her or not. Did I made a mistake? Only time will tell if this person was worthy of your trust. But I used to be a boss, and complaints go UP! IE-if you really want this situation to change you should talk to your boss about it. You may be surprised by the results. If that doesn't work, complaints go UP! Talk to your boss's boss. you may or not have.... i mean ur new and she's new. office politics can be killer.... be careful.. she may use it to get ahead or out of her own dramas with the department..... Why don't you give her a test to show whether you can trust her? Tell her something (relatively harmless) like, "did you hear there were 2 employees going at it in the mens toilets"? or something like that. Tell her not to tell anyone and see if it comes back to you. If it does, then you know if you can trust her. I would also be prepared to have some extra information about your rumor but obviously don't give out any names. We had the same rumor going around our workplace and then found out it wasn't true, but it kept everyone amused. Gushing is risky, and only time will tell if she rats you out. I doubt she is going to tell everyone what you said. She is the new person, so even if she does repeat what you told her, it might be taken with a grain of salt. words spread especially gossip and you do not know your new co-worker well enough yet. Try to refrain from revealing too much of your feeling as it may be mis-intrepreted. Talk to your soulmates instead. |
