How do you feel about work?!?

I am doing my radio show on internet radio (as always, every Tuesday); and I posed a question last week about what you all get your Dad's for Father's Day (this Sunday)! I had a great response - so THANK YOU! So; I have decided that most weeks; I will be sending out a question to you lot!

So; this week's question - HOW/WHAT DO YOU FEEL ABOUT WORK?! It's up's n downs; your workmates etc. Do you live by the theory: "Work to live and not live to work". Are you a budding *Apprentice* in the making? A global go-getter or a serial slacker?! What's your theories on office romances etc. You lot get what I mean - so get responding!

As always - your responses will be aired/shared - all answers/comments are appreciated (and kept anonymous if need be) - just PLEASE keep them clean!!!

If you want to tune into the nonsense - feel free! www.generationmix.co.uk from 10pm on Tuesday 19th June 2007.

I LOVE my job. Sometimes, I wish that I could win the lottery just so that I could prove to people that I would still work after winning the lottery. Of course I have bills to pay, so you could say that I 'work for money'. But I'd gladly work for free if I had no bills to pay.

I don't live to work - I'm not a workaholic. But when I'm at work, it's some of the best hours of my day. I have a challenging job and I have awesome co-workers and great management to work with.

I moved to the U.S. to marry my dream wife and I ended up getting a dream job thrown in with it. :) Life is good!

Hello!! Well, i have not entered the world of work yet, as i have just finished my university studies. the world of work can be a very scary concept if you have had no experience with work. I havent had a part time job for quite a long time, so the thoguht of getting a job will seem pretty daunting, but also very exciting at the same time, because i am finally going to become an independant person, earning my own money and finally becoming an adult.

i want to get the top job when i start working. i dont want a lower elevel ob, but i aim to be the best in whatvever i do. i am an ambitious person.

i hate how profit and target driven most organisations have become so in the last few years i have gone off working in an office and i now hate it! i feel very depressed and am looking for a career change. its hard to get a job where you're treated like a grown up....

work: boooooring!!!
Whether I'm in an office or waiting tables its all very very boring!

Response from a couple of wrinklies (70 & 74) - Work is a 4-letter word!

CONFUSED!!!!
I've just started a new job but have been offered another too! So i need to choose between them now!!! What a nightmare.. Oh well that's life!

I am working to help pay the bills and get some money to live on. It is not really a question of how I feel because whether I like to or not I have plenty to do with the wages at the end of the week. I am in bed every night before 10 pm. I do the early shift so, sorry I won't be able to tune in.

I work for a manufacturing company that recently made 90 workers redundant and since the redundancies back in April, I feel that the place I work has become a depressing place to work. I feel that in there, the Managing Director is good at telling his employees lies (one of them being there would be no redundancies when he turned around and told everyone 2 weeks later the exact opposite). He also harps on about how he wants his employees to think that they work for a great company when the conditions are poor and rest room facilities are absolutely filthy and unhygenic. My work has brought me down to such a low ebb that I actually wished that I had put in for voluntary redundancy but I didn't as the redundancy package was not made clear to anyone during the consultation period that followed the announcement.

As a person, I think I'm a decent, likeable and very helpful guy. When I'm at my current place of work, people wouldn't recognise me as that decent person and I think I'm a person that I don't want to be at work.

Given that I am likely to spend the next 40 year of my life working, I am currently trying to engineer a career change and whoever is brave enough to employ me will see the real me. Whilst I think you work to live, I actually want to do something with my career and not just sit in some dead-end job where potetially I could one day face being on the dole. I've experienced being on the dole before and trust me, it makes you feel suicidal.

I haven't worked since 1991 and so I would like to work for you. Are you looking for bright young science students?

Thank you.

Work is work, anything you HAVE to do instead of wanting to do would never really be fun. I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't mind working if there was more flexibility in the hours or such. Work takes away so much time that you can use for something else. It's not just the typical 8 hours a day because you have travel to include which takes everything up to 11/12 hours a day dedicated to work. Therefore leaving you with 4 hours a day to do what you want...4 hours out of 24? Not enough.

It's even worse for me as my job isn't challenging enough.

well what can i say about my job (i hate it) well not entirely true i like the people i work with its just my shifts are (rude word - deleted) and for what they expect me to do the wage is slave labour (basic wage)

so anyway now that im working i have no time to enjoy myself
today i got up at 5pm im on night shift i hate that and cant listen to your show anymore soz
