It depends on what you want to do with it. It looks like a decent notebook for most applications. The only concern I would have is the 4200 rpm drive. If you're going to do any heavy duty image processing, game playing, or something that reads/writes the HD a lot, you may want to look for a model with a 5400 rpm HD. The main tradeoff there is that it will use more battery.

Yes, but I would get a 3 year warranty. I purchase and repair laptops for a local university and the extended warranty is a good investment. You do not have to get Onsite, a Depot (you mail the laptop back to the manufacturer) will work fine.

Asking if a computer system is good or not is totaly subjective. What I think is a good machine...you may not and vise-versa. It greatly depends on what you will use it for and if the components are upgradeable and don't forget ease of use and portability, I had one person purchase this "Grand" laptop with every bell and whistle you can think of; more or less he purchased a portable Desktop system...very heavy, clunky and just plain not appealing. Before purchasing a computer, take a long hard look at what you will actually need it for....remember sales people will push items on you that you will never need.
