Window 2K, unable to modify Network ID, neither can I run the network setup wizard.?

Recently our small office workgroup network has installed a Vista machine. During my configuration on the existing computer, I uninstalled the old workable Simple Tcp/Ip protocol and other protocol and reinstalled them. Upon restarting, I noticed that I can no longer make the Win2k machine log into the existing Workgroup. In fact, the machine does not even allow me to click the Network ID button in order to run the network wizard.

To make things confusing, other workgroup computer, both XP and Vista, are able to read my shared folder at will. What went wrong?

My machine is window 2K, updated to latest update files till very recently. Anyhelp will be great. Thanks a lot.

Thanks for your quick reply.
Well initially I do have vista compatibility issue with regards to the whole workgroup. But it seems that now the problem comes from my Win2K terminal. I cannot configure this win2k to join the rest of the workgroup after my initial fidelling. That button, 'Network ID', which leads to initiating the network wizard, is now grey out and unresponsive.
Which part of the configuration of this Win2k did I get wrong in the first place?

The Vista machine is now accessible by the other XP machine with no problem.

Don't use VISTA first off.

To get your TCP/IP back you should go into Computer Management > Device Manger and find your network card and un-install it. close out the system and re-boot it. Windows should detect and install the network card and you should then be able to add the protocol back into the system and configure it as needed.

First mistake was to use Vista. There are still a lot of incompatibility issues with Vista and updated drivers. The first thing is to, if possible, download updated drivers for whatever hard you are using but a lot of this is not yet available. That's probably your only option at this time, unless you restore your previous setup.
