No this is definitely a scam. It has all of the signs of a scam. There is no Microsoft Lottery or any other form of lottery you can win without buying a ticket. There exists a certain form of immoral degenerate that trolls the internet searching for suckers who believe that they have gotten very lucky and won a lottery which they have never entered. They will probably entice you to send an advance fee to claim your non-existant winnings and if you do send this money, you can kiss it goodbye. The money will likely be en-route to Nigeria, a cesspool of fraud that has been the center of these types of fraud over the last few decades. The best thing to do is to delete such emails immediately and to never reply to them. In some cases, people who travel to claim their winnings are taken hostage, and in worse-case scenarios are killed when whoever is paying ransom payments exhausts their money supply. If anything online sounds to good to be true it always is buddy. But this is simply advance fee fraud (a prevalent type of fraud which continously asks for money to cover unforseen expenses) and is intended to drain your bank account, promising money that simply does not exist. Hopefully, this answers your question.

It is not SPAM -- it is called Phishing. Unfortunately, there exists in the world unscrupulous, no-conscience people, and some who don't have a life, who spend every waking hour trying to rob those of us who work for a living. They will try to get your personal information: bank account numbers, SS number, etc. Most of us here get this garbage all the time. Do not click on anything. Try to report the individual. This is what I do:

In Yahoo Mail, Options, General Preferences, I have set my mail to display full headers. This will give the internet provider of the sender.

When I get a phishing e-mail, I select (not click on anything) - select - the entire message and copy. Then, go to "compose," and paste it into the message box. I then mail it to: reportphishing@antiphishing.org. With luck they will be able to shut him down.
