Searching for something in life, but i don't know what.. even at 23. Haunting childhood?

At age 8to10 have been occasionally molested by distant relative-male (later his friend). Not able to tell my parents or friends.Developed a dislike for my father. mom was everything. when i asked my mom about father she said he was cruel to her in the beginning. was not able to get closer to friends in school. was good in studies.At 19 i entered college, got a friend,we became very close and shared all our troubles and enjoyment. His mom was divorced; he used to curse his father and i was very supportive to him. friends use to tease us as gays, couples, etc. But we were so close nothing sexual. After college he went abroad for job. i got broken and all my happiness came to end. I got a good job. I was very close to a female colleague in office, i used to treat her like my girlfriend, dropping her back home, movies, etc. After 2 yrs of working i felt sharp lack of trust in people, relationships and love.Need of change, pursuing higher studies in Australia. longing for something.

Even tho my life has obviously been completely different to yours, I feel as tho I am currently going through similar emotions.

Sometimes, I feel like I just hate "people" in general.

For quite some time, I have felt as tho I am looking for "something" in life. I don't know what it is.... which makes it extremly difficult. How can a person find something, when they don't know what it is they are looking for?

Unfortunetly, I can't give you much advice, I wish I could but I just wanted to say, you are not alone....

Sounds like u need to deal with ur issues from the past, they always come up and bite u on the *** at the most inconvenient times... Go get some professional help just talking will help.

Sounds crazy, but get to a Bible-believing(not a tradition-based faith community) church.

You need to get into proffesional counseling instead of asking for advice about such a serious issue on the internet.

Only through counseling with a licensed psych, can you deal with and overcome these issues.

As far as that search, get used to it; it is a constant feeling that you will have. You will find what it is and then when you ger it you will soon find that you have the need for something more. It is kind of like when you are hungry and thirsty: you may eat and drink, but sooner or later you will need to drink and eat again. It is the cirle of strife, er I mean life.
