Stomach/ Intestinal Noises!!!!?

So since high school, i've suffered from loud stomach noises. This effects how I perform in exams, classes, meetings, with friends, family.... I become self conscious and unable to act 'normal'.
I have read plenty of responses here from people who kinda suffer from this unfortunate event.
I recently started taking Beano with food. I take GasX like candy in the attempt to reduce these noises. Rolaids also for acid. One of my docs thinks its IBS. Others have said its all in my head. I also read that you need to have a consistant eating timetable and make going to the restroom part of your morning routine.
It seems thats sometimes it is non-existant, while at other times... it takes control of my life. I have asked professors to take my exams alone in their offices, far from the rest of the hall, which many have accomodated, but I can't continue like this!

Dont over do it w/the gas-x or beano stuff. it's normal for th e tummy to make some sounds, but you may have IBS, which also is very very common.

there are meds to treat this. however, i would advise to try natural enzymes, a s paprika, & calcuim , Ginger & slippery elm . Go to health food store, they can help you.

Regular diet does help. And not as in you eat the same thing every night. Try variating it and not eating to much fast food. Make sure you eat 3 meals a day. And try to incorperate fruits and vegetables.

Hey YAY me too. It's like I am always hungry when the room is quiet. Quite embarrassing. lol I dont have any gas but it all of a sudden starts growling for food when things get quiet or boring. My stomach had ADD? lol

These are just normal digestive bowel sounds. Why yours are extremely loud, I don't know. Maybe you're just more self conscious about them. Stomach gurgling just means that your food is going through the digestive process. Sometimes stomachs growl when they're hungry. It's normal, but you are becoming obsessive about it by taking beano and Gas-X. Sometimes people swallow too much air when they eat or drink, because they don't take time to properly chew their food, eat in a hurry, or gulp their food and drink. There are certain foods, such as beans, cabbage and onions that produce more gas. You might ask your doctor about your problem, and see if he or she can give you something to calm that noisy and active gut. I think you may be more aware of it than others. But don't worry -- it's normal.

Try Pepto-Bismol. First read the back of the bottle and see if its ok for you to use it.

I had the same problem for years and never knew it was IBS till I was diagnosed. If it is IBS (which it really does sound like you're describing), it can take control of your life at times but is usually managed quite well with meds, routine and being careful what is eaten when. IBS can only be diagnosed by a specialist & testing, so ask your doc for a referal. The treatment DOES help.
