When will Americans figure out that ???

Our political system (which yes is the best in the world) is not working anymore... Look at all the competition among parties. Just read Yahoo answeres. That is getting in the way of actually doing the right thing for our country. Even the parties don`t agree with each other on many issues anymore (Bushes actions had a lot to do with that)Somebody need to stand up and run for office and actually have the guts to say * I am not any of these parties *I am what I think is best the American people and way of life.... Actually STATE what they believe in instead of saying vote for me no matter what I will do for you just cuz I`m a REP, DEM , Liberal or whatever....This system may have worked well back when there were not so many people problems and issues but the world has grown...No ONE party is correct about everything, that`s impossible. Parties are now just a label...with if you think about it, virtually NO REAL MEANING anymore.cuz so many thoughts are shared between parties.

And please don`t start with:::: you are a commi or liberal or whatever because I`m not , I just feel that what is best for our country is actually a combo of all parties

I beg to differ with the statement that our political system is the best in the world, not by a long shot. You may argue our economy is, our political system is surely lacking.
When corporations infiltrate your government to such a degree that they are writing their own laws,
when executives for the meat packing industry are now co-chairs of the USDA and the FDA, when former executives of pharmaceutical companies are now co-chairs of the FDA,
oil company executives control the EPA,

We have the best government business money can buy.
Washington DC has no clue what "conflict of interest" means.

And yes, you are correct about there being no true difference between the parties, because they are all bought off!!! They pick key issues and put a show on that they are against each other, as far as the people, it's all about 'divide and conquer'.
That's why I can't stress how important it is to expose what a sham this duopoly government is and vote third party every time.

I agree with you 100%.All the politicians do is call each other names, and neither party is for anything unless it's THEIR idea. They're so obsessed with gaining or keeping power that nothing else matters. All it does is divide the country. And the conservative talk radio is even worse.I'm not picking on the conservatives, but if you can stand to listen to limbaugh or the others, all you hear is name-calling and bizzare accusations. This is America,we're ALL Americans,we should be concentrating on our country's problems, not on which party can twist things the most to make them look good.

It's been this way a LOT longer than the last 6 years, but you go ahead and blame Bush anyway. It fits your agenda.

This is the best Question-Statement I have seen in Yahoo Answers. I think that we need new leaders because all we are getting are Country Club Preps that are bored with what they are doing because all we are getting are crappy leaders that only mudsling against each other.

I agree that we have the best system, but I think it has strayed a little too far from the founding fathers goals. It can certainly be more efficient.

We as a country, driven by the parties, have become too polarized. After listening to about 30 seconds of talk radio you'll know what I mean. In order to attain or keep power, the two parties bash each other and force their constituents to decide based on one or two issues. Anyone over the age of 10 knows that life isn't that simple. Saying "You're with us or you're with the terrorists," is a great sound bite and sounds strong and patriotic. Unfortunately, it doesn't work well in a gray world and a representative form of government.

When I boil this down in my mind, I think the parties lost sight of the people they represent and focused on party politics. Political power became more important than doing what's best for the people of this nation.

I'm confident we can get it back - I view the mid-term elections as a shot at partisan politics and the extreme left and right. I think it's a good time to be a moderate.
