Why do Jehovah's.......?

Seem to think we want to hear about their personal issues? I have a guy in my office that is a Jehovah and man he wants to share EVERYTHING with EVERYBODY. Even his personal stuff down to his colonoscopy - DUDE I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT THAT. He also thinks that people should come share EVERYTHING with him... I don't think so. Then he'll share your stuff with others including his family... I've met a couple other Jehovahs and they were the same way. WHY - WHY ARE THEY LIKE THAT? So I just ignore him most of the time. When his wife calls the office she will ask all kinds of questions & share info with ya too. Man it drives me crazy some times. Especially when I'm busy - I don't have time for that stuff........ Again I'm venting here OK.. So if you can share some insight I'd appreciate it or share your peeves.

Yeah I don't have a problem being blunt. He's even told me that I need to work on it because sometimes I'm a little too blunt... I just cut his wife off in midsentence & pass her through to him.

Ok, I know I'm gonna tick some people off with my opinion so do what you feel you gotta do......I use to be involved with them for about 15 years until I finally figured out what they were all about and kicked them to the curb....even if they don't all do what your co-worker and his wife are doing...trust me when I tell you that they are trying to be slick, they try to be reeeeeeeeel nice to you with all that sharing stuff in hopes of gaining your trust in hopes of you letting your guard down so they can put the squeeze on you to take a bible tract or start talking to you about Jehovah while all the time looking for an opening to invite you to the Kingdom Hall. I've learned that you HAVE to be as you put it BLUNT AND DIRECT to them or they will NEVER leave you alone. And he has alot of nerve telling you that you need to work on being so blunt when they need to work on taking NO FOR AN ANSWER if you were being REALLY blunt he and his wife would've understood by now that you don't want to hear that crap.

All religious people are nutty in their own ways.....

Maybe it's just that family. I know a family of JWs and they're okay as long as we don't talk Bible.

I'm sorry that your JW acquaintance is like that. Not all Witnesses overwhelm with unwanted personal info. Their duty is to spread the word of Jehova, not their family ills and etc.

Even though I don't agree with some of their core teachings, they are one of the most dynamic religious groups that I have ever seen.
You might want to look at them a little more closely rather than comdemning the entirety based on one family.

I have a very dear friend who is a jw, who is one of the sweetest people I've ever known....we TOTALLY disagree on matters of faith, but I love her dearly. She is the only jw I have ever come to know, who hasn't been pushy to the extreme about their doctrine.

Look I thought I was the only one?...who has had this happen.

Maybe?...because they are NOT seen as a true faith, according to the Bible(as they have re-written it to suit their own ideas)...I would have to say...they are insecure.!!!

The true gospel....shows people to rely on GOD.
Not man...so something is greatly missing that they have this need!

I have had it happen time and time again....telling me things that I didn't want to know...or hear...way way too personal.
Being insecure, is sad...but when you change the rule book(the Bible..as they have)!....well the story changes, and the TRUTH....becomes a lie.
Thus:
one becomes insecure........

They are pushy, and for the most part, inconsiderate, but that is their nature and it can be a real pain in the a---- sometimes.

But you are on the right track by ignoring him. There isn't much you can do other than be candid and just be blunt and tell him you have no desire to know all this unneeded information.

As far as his wife calling and sharing personal stuff or asking personal stuff, just be as blunt with her as well. Tell her you don't wish to discuss either hers or your personal info.

Don't worry about hurting someones feelings because they have none. It will roll of their backs and they will move on to someone who will listen.

It might work, but my experience with them has proven that they are a persistant, aggravating, and most I have had the displeasure of dealing with are not in touch with reality.

We're not all like that. People are people and some people, regardless of their religion, are just that way; their religion doesn't necessarily have anything to do with it. Some people just like to talk alot.

tohelpyouandyou: The JW's haven't changed anything. I could explain our doctrine to you using the KJV, New KJV, New Jerusalem Bible, New International Bible, etc. The biggest difference between our translation and, for instance, the KJV is that we haven't omitted God's name and replaced it with LORD. If you have a KJV, you may still find Jehovah in a couple of scriptures, like Psa. 83:18, but if you have the New KJV it has been omitted entirely and states this in the Forward.

What you are talking about is a behavioral condition, not uncommon in society. You would know that if you read Dear Abby very often. If it concerns you, you might consider calling the congregation that he attends and ask to talk to an elder or overseer. They will have talk with him.

You're trying to apply the behavioral quirk of one person to 6.6 million. Do you make the same assumptions of other religions, just as Catholic Priests?

They are just trying to get all the "worldy" stuff out of their system before the "new system" arrives.
