Getting a MAC, but use PC for work. Don't want to run Windows ever again, possible with new Office 2008?

I like that MACs are a lot safer/cleaner than PCs. I've had it with my computer. It is sooo slow, and not that old. After years of working with PCs for work, I really want to switch to a MAC. I work mostly from home but share lots of files back and forth with my clients who all use Windows for PCs, plus I have a ton of files in my files that are PC-based. I know I can run Windows on it, but I really don't want to because it makes the machine just as vulnerable as a PC. So, when exactly will Office 2008 come out, and will it let me just start working in Office with no compatibility issues? Any insight out there?

The new MS Office 2007 file formats do screw things up immensely. Luckily the free converter is already out, and anything you create will be readable by anyone with Office 2007. So if they send you a DOCX file, you convert it to DOC, open it, do your work, save it as a DOC, send it back, and the PC user will open it without knowing a difference.

I would guess that Office 2008/9 is on track for mid to late 2008.
