How do I connect to my wireless network from outside it's range? |
I have a wireless network set up in my house (Linksys G) and I would like to knpow how I can connect to it (as it has file sharing capabilities) from a computer that is say, at my office or school. You can't becuse you are not broadcasting your home network across you whole town, it is only broadcasting within your home. well if you are out of range then you are out of range you can't unless you are in it's range. unless your school/office is a couple of houses away you won't be able to connect to your wireless network that way. You would need to setup some type of remote access or VPN to connect to your network from your work or office. The wireless strength of your wireless router is not designed for that only for use in your house. If it had a range like that, everyone could leech off of your signal. All the answers that say you're out of luck if you're out of range are wrong. The "wireless" part of your network is irrelevant, because you'll be accessing it over the Internet, not via 802.11 wireless signals. |
