How do I get dsl service at a location approx. 300 feet from the gateway?

I have ATT DSL with a 2wire router. I have a remote office about 300 feet from my main office. I need service in my remote location. The two buildings share a phone line, however thay are on seperate utility meters.

The easiest way to do this is to purchase the following equipment.

1) Two routers like the D-link DI-704UP router with built in print server
2) Two point to point access points like the D-link DWL-3200 Wireless Access Point

The reason for the two routers with built in print servers is so you can print to either office or both offices....

Now this would be your connections:

Main Office Phone Line -> DSL Modem -> Router #1 -> Wireless Access Point #1

Remote Office Router #2 -> Wireless Access Point

You would mount your wireless Access Points to the walls that are closest between your two offices, outside walls would be preferable as that would increase the signal range.

All your computers would plug straight into the routers in your offices. This configuration will allow you to setup your network for file, internet and print sharing between the two locations.

I have seen something like this once..
Current across Ground

Make sure Both Buildings have a good grounding rod.
the problem I had required that I about ever 6 months or so Go out and kick the grounding rod on one building.

I know is strange but check it out.

Perhaps you should consider a PNA connection, a phone line connection. You said you have a phone line, all you need is an adaper for the two computers, and a wall adapter for the one in the remote office. You then share the internet connection via Intenet Connection Sharing, via the computer closest to the modem. It is very simple to set up. However, the PNA connection is slower than the one with the ethernet adapter. However, if this is your only option, if wireless is not feasable due to distance, and walls, etc, then this is a good option.

You can get the hardware from any electronics store. An adapter costs about a hundred dollars.

Good luck and have a great evening.

p.s. there is no such thing as that grounding pole thingy abob. How funny! It must have been a joke!

Plug the DSL Modem - Router into the phone line in the main office. Run a CAT5 Patch cable to a Linksys or other Wireless Router (WRT54G or something like that) to as close to the other location as you can. Then use the wireless signal to share the Internet between the two locations.

There are wireless extenders as well. A royal pain in the butt, but they exist and work after much suffering.
