Microsoft office help needed. when i try to open a word document it tells me the file cannot be found...?

even though it is definately there and can be opened when i transfer it into the shared file and open it using another pc on the same network, i have tried closing the network and i have tried reinstalling 'word' but nothing seems to be working. also everytime i close microsoft outlook i get a message saying 'the file normal already exists do u want to save it in templates with a different name'. wtf??

I have repaired the operating system and it has made no difference. i can also open word and make new documents such as letters or tables and i can save them to my documents folder but when i try and open them again they are 'not available' all files are original.

I think u should "REPAIR" ur os 2000/xp.

maybe wrong but it sounds like you are working with backup copy of the document, not the original. i've had this before but only vaguely remember what it was. Have you tried a search to see how may copies of that file come up?
