2 Network Connections on 1 PC?

Hi i'd really appreciate some help,

Ive got 2 networks.
One is an office network of a server and a few workstations connected via ethernet. This network is just for sharing files and such, and is not connection to the internet.

The other is a laptop that, with a WiFi card, connects to the internet.

Now, i want to be able to plug in an ethernet cable into the laptop so that it can access the office network (get files from the server etc) and also connect to the internet at the same time.

However, at the moment, when i plug in the laptop the internet stops working on it (though i can access the server).

Ive tried playing around with TCP/IP and "Alternative Configuration" but just can;t get it to work. Ive also done some reading on the net and cant find any solutions.

This is driving me mad - id really love some help.

Thanks

Thanks for the help!

Yes disabling one works - but i want to have them both active at the same time - surely this is possible?

alfa - thanks for the offer.
The Server is running Windows Server 2003, and the Laptop is running XP Pro. Office LAN is connected via regular gigabit ethernet, and the laptop has a Netgear WM511B Card.

Thanks for the help.

PS - wheres the reply button?!

There might be a reason as in security why they don't hook up anything to the office network? By connecting to the network through your computer and to the internet through your computer you expose your office lan to the Internet.

If you are prepared to risk that than, try this, just go to network connections and disable one and keep the other one active and vice versa. This is the least risky way to expose your office lan to the Inet. There are more ways to do this, but doing so would be way too risky to your office.

you have to temporary disable the wifi card to see the ethernet connection, and vice versa to see the internet connection on the wifi card. having both connections enabled confuses the computer as to which connection to use.

i dint know which OS you are use.
email me your OS and hardware configuration.
ma by i can help you
