How do I moves from a peer-to-peer network to a client/server network?

I manage a small office LAN. When we first started all we really needed was the ability to share files, printers and an Internet connection. Now that the network has grown to about 25 users and I've been placed in an official IT role, I want a little more control over this network. The minimum I want is to be able to remotely adminstrate the user machines and the ability to deploy software from a single location. Optimally, I'd like to be able to monitor network and Internet traffic as well. I'd like the transition to be as seamless as possible. Can anyone point me to a resource I can use to assist me in doing this?

Currently the network consists of about 25 computers connected via Cat5 cable to several switches. DHCP is handled by a router where a DSL modem is connected. We have a server but right now we only use it for file storage and as an antivirus server.

What you need to do is install a windows server on one computer on your network

OR

Install a remote administrator software. If you need one i will give. You will be able to control client access, client programs, User account, Time e.t.c . You will also have the ability to remotely shut and restart computer

Microsoft Windows 2003 Small Business Server Edition is definitely the way you need to go for this. However make sure you plan it and set it up properly (i.e. always consider expansion - never plan for what you have, but what you will need in a few years time!!)

Also, make sure that the people running the company are prepared to spend some (not necessarily a lot, but some!) money on their IT - if not, get out now, trying to do it on a budget will be a nightmare!
