My laptop can't read my desktop?

Both my laptop and desktop share the same wireless router (model : d-link). My desktop is hardwire while my laptop is wifi connected and both surf the web without problem. I've used mircosoft network wizard (home or office network configuration) to set up my desktop and laptop to create a LAN with the same workgroup name. My wireless router DHCP settings is enabled.
My desktop could read the shareddoc of my laptop but not vice versa? My laptop shows the icon of my desktop when view throught "view workgroup computers" but my access to my desktop icon was denied. It kept prompting I do not have permission to access the desktop, which I did not set any limitation on the desktop sharedoc.
Can someone help to figure what's wrong? What should I do so that both my computers can read each other, preferably I could play lan games after all is being setup properly. Help!

*Both share the same workgroup name.
* Tried with both firewall off but nothing change.

first off, to newkirb: WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT. your laptop does "learn" to read, its not a newborn baby you dumbass.

To answer your question: You might need to enable sharing options on some folders or your hard drive on your desktop. to do this right click a folder or your hard drive, go to properties, then sharing and enable sharing. it might take awhile to set everything to being shared but just it will work.

also, you don't need to be able to have your computer access each other to be able to play games over a LAN with each other, they should be able to do that as long as they are connected to the same router, so your already in the green for that.

Your laptop is probably newly bought and needs time to learn to read .... That comes after it has learned to type , so just be parient , give it some time ...
