How did this baby die? accident or at someones hand?

SEARCY, AR - An 18-month-old baby in White County has died, possibly after being put inside a dishwasher.

The White County Sheriff's Department says the toddler was dead when they arrived at his home a little after 1 p.m. Wednesday. Investigators say the case has been a difficult one to work. "This is probably the hardest, most emotional scene that these investigators will ever work," said Sheriff's Dept. spokesman Jeremy Clark.

i live in arkansas, and when the news reported on tv,it said the father was home with a 13 year old and a three year old the father was aleep with the 3 year old and the 13 year old was watching the child . he was playing the ps2 and noticed the baby missing when he went searching he noticed the dishwasher on.. and found the baby......for the record my dishwasher if set and opened will restart automatically if u simply pull it shut, i dont see how an 18 month old could climb in and pull it shut......

I sure hope it was an accident. That is an awful way to die. I don't know a child could close a dishwasher while being inside. I think it is awful that the dishwasher starts without someone having to press buttons. It doesn't seem safe. The other question that comes to mind is, "How long was the baby in there before anyone noticed?". I mean if my kids are out of my sight for more than a couple minutes I start looking.

All I know is that my dishwasher doesn't close on its own and you have to pull a lever or push a button to start it up. If this was truly an accident, it is a very tragic one.

there is no way that a baby could have climbed inside a dishwasher and closed the door. i say it was someones fault

someone definetly killed this baby...if you think about it...it'll all make sense that the baby was killed

the injestion of water would mean tha the baby died after being put into the dishwasher.

sounds really disturbing. yeah its hard for a baby not even 2 years old yet to climb INTO a dishwasher, then close the door?? why was it open in the first place ya know like dishwashers aren't open for no reason. and then the door closes and altomatically starts? don't think so.

Theres no question the baby died at someones hand. You can only turn on a dishwasher when you close the door and latch the latch. It will not work otherwise. Even if the baby managed to get the door up, there is noway he could of latched it.

That is awful. Sick, sick, people. How could anyone harm a child?

Also, where was an adult, when this baby apparently locked himself in a dishwasher????

my guess would be accident ... but since you have to look at each scene without prejudgment I would have to say it could go either way. As I assume this is a newspaper clipping and very vague on the details. I would look at the objects surrounding the washer to see if there was a way that a child could obtain access to the washer ......perhaps the parent was unknown to the child being there ...

High pressure water jets shoot out from the holes on the side: this can either drown the boy or hurt him physically (break open skin, bones...)

Then soap spay out also: this can sting his eyes and nose or other openings.

Also it could be suffocating due to lack of oxygen.

This is horrific. Surely this was actually an accident. Did the 13 year old shut the door ?? Devastating is an understatement. Poor child.

my daughter is nearly 17 months old.............
she is strong but not strong enough to pull a door up to close it
on every dishwasher i have known the only thing the baby could have held onto to pull the door closed would have been the lid of the tablet drawer where you put the dishwasher tablet
i think someone els done this to the baby and i think the person who done it should be left to the public because i no what i would like to do to them
i think they should be hung sliced stabbed shot chopped roasted burned to a frazzle then fed to the fish after being dragged by there ears along a rocky road tied to the back of a rally car
